The lanterns

We walk on a wide street with a million lanterns around, each holding either a secret or knowledge or wisdom. As the evening matures itself into the depths of navy blue, the warm vermilion lanterns begin to glow as if they are just blossoming into their youth, ripening with pristine pride of their beauty, attracting us, alluring us towards their purity. But the dawn will break soon and the golden resplendence will wipe us off this planet. So we have to make choices of which lanterns to buy. They are just too many. There is a whole galaxy of them. Endless. Ever-lasting. Eternal. They are blinding us. Overwhelming us. They are beautiful. We keep walking taking the beauty in. Our bodies bathed by the warm glow. The light showing us the way. The lanterns are of various shapes. Some are ornate, some are simple and others are studded with jewels. A few haven't been lighted yet and others seem to blaze into the night. I see that you are holding one too. Its shining through your robe and making you glow as if from inside. We keep walking. The street and the night seem endless. There seems to be no memory in me. Of how we got here or what this place is. It feels as if I came into existence on this street with you on the side. No beginning and may be no end. I look at you, into your eyes. And I know you feel the same. Reassured I look ahead into the street. Darkness giving way to light as we walk ahead.
